The Nibbana Family

You might think our blog has really gone to the dogs?! Meet Rory, the latest addition to our family. We rescued Rory from the animal shelter after many weeks of looking for the perfect new companion for Blue. In case you can’t tell, Rory is also an Australian Shepherd and is about 3 years old. We didn’t intentionally look for another Aussie, in fact Kelsi wanted another Akita mix or a dog with a fuzzy or curly tail. When we visited the shelter it was immediately obvious Rory had picked us out. Rory came over and quietly sat next to us and was immediately friendly and gentle with the girls. He just knew he was the one for us.  A red/tri-color mix, he is the perfect complement to Blue. And don’t make fun of his ears, he car hear whatever you are saying about him from miles away!

Today was a day I had been dreading but knew was coming for a long while. Our dog, or Kelsi’s dog really, had to be put to sleep. Shadow was an 18 year old Chow/Akita mix (or Chakita as I liked to say) and had been with Kelsi for some 15 years. She had been losing her senses and deteriorating for some time, but we elected to give her everything we could and keep her alive as long as she was enjoying life. We knew the end was drawing near when she stopped eating and had to be force fed. Sadly, her eyes told us it was time… farewell, old girl.

It’s been a long time since we’ve posted and a lot has happened and changed. We’ll get around to most of the details in future posts, but for now I would like to introduce our newest family member, “Blue”.

Blue is an Australian Shepherd pup and was born August 20th. He’s got quite a bit of energy and likes to keep our family on our toes. We got him from Jennifer Stagg, a wonderful breeder in the midwest with Integrity Aussies. He comes from champion bloodlines and his full name is “Integrity’s Blue Streak”, in part from his heritage and his blue merle color.  However we just call him “Blue”. Blue has his own photo gallery which will be growing as we add more pictures. Welcome Blue!!
